Rainbows

Camera: Canon Eos R8

Lens: Canon RF100-400 F5.6-8 with 27mm extension

These were taken with focus bracketing enabled on the camera, I also used a hue cycling light to create a rainbow in time with the camera shutter speed.

Focus bracketing is a setting on some cameras which will take a preset number of photos at a slightly further focus each time, the camera then takes all of these images and creates a composite with each images individual focus area. Using a light in time with the shutter speed allows the reflections of the individual droplets to be a different color than the prior shot.

This scene was created by stacking construction paper in a rainbow pattern and an acrylic plate that had been rained on the prior night. The acrylic plate was raised off the paper a very precisely measured height of 1 red starburst candy at each corner. Very high tech. Raising the plate higher would have created a more blurry background of the paper, but in this case I wanted the sharper lines to test the focus bracketing.
