Mica powder and oil

When white mica powder is added to oil it creates a very reflective surface as well as displaying convection patterns.

This image showcases a pattern known as convection cells, a similar pattern can be seen on the surface of the sun. This is caused by the heat produced from the light below the oil creating small hotspots allowing the oils density to change in certain spots, the suspended mica powder flows at a different rate from the oil creating the easily visible separations.
